The Berkeley

The Berkeley is a residential home for adults with learning difficulties and a moderate degree of associated difficulties. it is a spacious residence with gardens and outbuildings, coveniently situated close to a large park and the town centre of Northampton.

The guiding principle is one of creating an environment as enabling and normal as possible for the individuals who use this service. The setting is therefore designed to allow the greatest expression of individuality and rich, diverse lifestyles. Users are encouraged to develop independent skills, exercise choice and integrate into local community life.

Supportive Care For Service Users

The staff at the Berkeley deliberately foster an approach which centres on the needs of each individual. the overall objective is to enhance self confidence and bring about global realistic development. the emphasis is irrevocably on people first and disability second.

Service users may have an autistic spectrum disorder, mentall health needs or present with moderate challenging behaviour.

A full day opportunities service is available to all service users who are not otherwise engaged e.g. in sheltered or open employment.

Given the wide spectrum of needs cared for Mentaur places special emphasis on staff training and satisfaction. We support staff to constantly improve their skill base and, when called upon, effectively manage difficult and complex situations. We try and ensure the highest quality of care at all levels and all times.
