Protocol for Quality Issues
- A High level og quality will be maintained through both internal and external checking assessments and other special measures.
- Internal Monitoring of quality will include:
- Development of comprehensive policies covering all important areas. This will be read by and accessible to all members of staff.
- Regular audits of clinical issues.
- Regular audits of non-clinical issues.
- Regular compilation of audit reports based on the above.
- A forward plan of such audit.
- External monitoring of quality carried out by:
- Mandatory annual inspection by the designated Inspection Unit.
- If necessary, the increasing use of external quality assurance consultants.
- Other measures will centre around staff training, staff appraisal and satisfaction and a functional complaints procedure:
- A training co-ordinator, with overall responsibility for the in-house training programme will be in place,
- Such training will be subject of regular audit,
- Individual staff training needs will also be identified through the supervision process.
- Staff appraisal will be carried out through the aforementioned supervision process, customer satisfaction questionnaires will also be circulated at regular intervals,
- where residents are unable to have any reason to use the normal complaints procedure, advocacy will be established
