HEAVY LOAD CATCH-UP!

Do you remember Heavy Load and their award winning documentary about people with learning disabilities who formed a rock band? Hopefully you do, otherwise here's a quick catch up with them.

Last October, Monica and I went all the way to London for a Heavy Load gig at the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts). Initially we planned the trip because we wanted to go to the premiere of their documentary; sadly for us, the tickets for the show were sold out! Anyway, the music was brilliant and we even had the chance to finally meet in person a few members of the band.

They always keep in touch by email and we recently received fresh information about their whereabouts. Paul, the band's spokesman told us that they launched the Stay Up Late Cymru on Sunday 21st June in Cardiff. He also wanted to let us know that they have just revamped the Stay Up Late website (www.stayuplate.org) and they now want people like you to post up their own stories and pictures about what you've been up to.....“whether the campaign's making a difference - or even if they disagree with the whole thing!”

In addition to this, the DVD of their documentary was released on 30th March and they also tried very hard to make it to the top 40 with their Stay Up Late song. It was a shame that they didn't achieve their goal this time, but they'll surely succeed the next.

Now that we know that you can post your own story and pictures on their website, should you have one that you would like to share, ask a member of staff to fax it over to me and I'll do the posting for you.
